Zoom experienced a significant outage this afternoon, disrupting users’ ability to join video calls and access its website. According to Cisco’s ThousandEyes platform, the issue began around 2:40 PM ET with a noticeable drop in site connectivity, which was restored almost two hours later.
Numerous users took to X to report the outage, encountering an “Unable to Connect” error when trying to join meetings or being completely unable to sign in. During the outage, Zoom’s website displayed a 502 Bad Gateway error, and its press email was also non-functional.
A Reddit post mentioned that the domain registry issue was resolved by 4:12 PM ET, though full service restoration may take additional time as DNS servers update and disseminate the corrected information.
By approximately 5 PM ET, Zoom communicated on X that services had been restored, thanking users for their patience and understanding.
The Verge reached out to both Zoom and GoDaddy for further details but has yet to receive a response.
Update, April 16th: An update from Zoom has been incorporated.
