How to Acquire the Basement Key in Blue Prince
To enter the Basement, you must obtain the Basement Key. The solution is straightforward: head to the Antechamber.
However, reaching the Antechamber is a bit more elaborate. You need to locate at least one of the three levers that grant access to the Antechamber doors, then map a route to the chosen door.
When successfully executed, the Basement Key becomes yours. This key is crucial for accessing the Basement. Even if alternate routes appear, the Basement Key will be needed at least once.
How to Use the Basement Key in Blue Prince
The most straightforward route to access the Basement is through the Foundation. You begin by drafting it, lowering the lift into position with a hidden crank on the wall’s backside, and then descend with the elevator to locate a Basement door. This is where the Basement Key becomes indispensable.
As you progress, you’ll also discover different entrances to the basement. These include the Cliffside Exit (requiring a Power Hammer), the Fountain (accessible once drained), or a convoluted Tomb route. Nevertheless, the Foundation entrance remains the most direct.

- Mine Cart: Poses as a barrier from the Reservoir side, with a note in the Gemstone Cavern. Puzzle-solving in the Tomb displaces it.
- Fountain Entrance: Drain the Fountain via the Pump Room to uncover stairs and a new Basement door (requiring the Basement Key).
- Tomb Entrance: Access the Tomb, an Outer Room, by unlocking the West Gate Path. Inside, engage with statues in sequence to establish paths to the Mine Cart and Reservoir.
