Google has become the latest AI service provider to lure higher education users. Starting today, college students in the United States can avail themselves of Google’s One AI Premium plan free of charge, bypassing the standard $20 monthly fee until June 30, 2026.
According to Google spokesperson Alex Joseph, students must sign up before the offer ends on June 30, 2025, and will need a valid .edu email for verification. He mentioned to The Verge that students will receive an email reminder towards the plan’s end, ensuring they have ample time to cancel if desired.
The plan offers 2TB of cloud storage and access to a variety of Google’s AI services designed to help students study more efficiently. Google One AI Premium includes tools powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro, such as Gemini Advanced, which rivals ChatGPT Plus, and Gemini Deep Research, enabling users to summarize complex subjects and transform reports into podcast-style audio.
Additionally, users can utilize NotebookLM Plus for extended study and audio summarization capabilities and integrate Google’s Gemini assistant into Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The plan also features new tools like Google’s Veo 2 text-to-video AI model and Whisk, which lets users blend text and image prompts to create innovative content.
