China has launched the world’s first fully AI-driven hospital, signaling a groundbreaking transformation in healthcare.
Created by Tsinghua University in Beijing, the “Agent Hospital” incorporates 14 AI doctors and 4 AI nurses capable of diagnosing, treating, and managing up to 3,000 patients daily, all without any human personnel.
- Accelerated, intelligent care: Tasks that would take human physicians three years can be accomplished by AI doctors in just one day.
- High-performing AI: These AI entities achieved a 93.06% pass rate on the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam.
- Safe training ground: The virtual hospital allows medical students to engage in practice within a fully simulated and risk-free environment.

Operational Mechanism
The hospital employs multimodal large language models (MLLMs) to facilitate real-time interactions with patients, manage diagnoses, issue treatment prescriptions, and monitor disease advancements, all via digital means.
It also incorporates predictive capabilities that simulate disease transmission, which could prove invaluable in preparing for future pandemics.
Though still in the research phase, Agent Hospital underscores a future where AI can relieve strained healthcare systems, provide continuous care in underserved regions, and transform medical training.
While the technology must navigate regulatory and ethical challenges, the trajectory is clear: the AI doctor is ready to assist you.
