Sony has officially launched a new internal studio named Team LFG, which is set to create “a team-based action game.” Hermen Hulst, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment studios, highlighted that the studio “originated at Bungie” and has attracted talent from across the industry to realize an ambitious incubation project that he is very enthusiastic about.
Interestingly, the announcement did not specify any developers involved, leaving it uncertain who will be part of Team LFG. The studio is depicted as “a team made up of industry veterans with experience in titles like Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Fortnite, Roblox, and Rec Room, as well as newcomers who bring fresh creative insights and talents.”
Details regarding the development stage of Team LFG’s first title are still unclear, including when it will be properly unveiled. The studio has expressed a commitment to “creating immersive multiplayer worlds powered by action games that players can learn, enjoy, and master for hours on end.” Their initial game will reportedly draw inspiration from a variety of genres, including fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-themed games. Furthermore, players will be immersed in a lighthearted, comedic setting within a brand new, mythic, science-fantasy universe.
