Samsung Launches One UI 8 Beta for Galaxy S25...

Samsung has commenced the beta testing of One UI 8, its customized version of Android 16. This beta is currently accessible to users in the US, UK, Germany, and South Korea on the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra — notably excluding the new S25 Edge.

As expected, Samsung is highlighting the AI capabilities of this OS update, which reportedly feature enhanced multimodal functionality and increased personalization. However, the details in the company’s announcement and update changelog are somewhat sparse regarding specific AI improvements, aside from mentioning speed enhancements that eliminate the previous startup delay for the AI Select feature.

One UI 8 has also been tailored for the diverse form factors in the Galaxy lineup, reflecting Google’s focus on how Android 16 enhances the experience on tablets and foldable devices. A notable new feature is the split-screen functionality, allowing one app to be partially moved off-screen while concentrating on another, reminiscent of the multitasking capabilities found in the OnePlus Open.

Additional updates include a revamped layout for Samsung’s Reminder app for easier organization and sharing of to-do lists; a more streamlined interface for Quick Share; and support for Auracast, an Android 16 feature that enables hearing aids and certain earbuds — including the Galaxy Buds 3 — to connect quickly to shared audio streams such as public announcement systems or concert audio feeds.

The beta version is available now via the Samsung Members app, and Samsung anticipates launching One UI 8 this summer alongside its next generation of foldable devices, likely the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.

According to the company, this new launch “initiates a new rhythm for Samsung’s software evolution with significant UX and AI updates.” While the statement is somewhat vague, it offers hope to fans who were frustrated by the prolonged rollout of One UI 7 across various devices.
