WhatsApp Simplifies Sign-Out Process for Users

Mario Kart World

WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows users to take a break from the messaging app without losing their account data. A recently discovered "Logout [internal]" option in the WhatsApp 2.25.17.37 beta version, reported by Android Authority, enables users to sign out from their primary device while choosing to either keep or delete their app data and preferences.

At present, the only way for users to log out of the mobile app is by either clearing the app data through Android device settings or completely uninstalling the app on iOS. In contrast, logging out of linked devices using the web or desktop versions of WhatsApp is much simpler since there’s a straightforward logout button in the user profile.

The new Logout button can be found in WhatsApp’s user settings, located just below the account deletion option. The "Erase all Data & preferences" choice does just that, according to Android Authority, while the "Keep all Data & preferences" option is ideal for those looking for a temporary break from the service or users without dual-SIM devices needing to switch accounts. With this option, the account remains exactly as it was when users decide to sign back in.

It remains uncertain when this feature will be made available to the public, or whether it will be offered on both Android and iOS, given their differing logout processes. We have reached out to Meta for further details.
