Scuf Introduces Hall Effect Sticks in Latest...

Scuf is set to enhance its wireless Envision and Reflex controllers with new drift-resistant Hall effect sticks. The updated models will feature the $149.99 Envision, the $199.99 Envision Pro for PC, the $249.99 Reflex Pro, and the $279.99 Reflex FPS for PlayStation 5 and PC. These prices are just starting points, as the Corsair-owned brand offers an array of customization options that can elevate the cost of each model significantly.

The introduction of the Hall effect technology aligns Scuf’s wireless products with its wired Valor Pro and Nomad mobile controllers, replacing the original Reflex and Envision controllers that were released in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

Scuf is adopting Hall effect sticks at a time when this magnetic, drift-resistant technology has become standard in alternatives from brands like 8BitDo, Razer, and GameSir. However, it has yet to be integrated into controllers from Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft. Meanwhile, some manufacturers are already exploring the next generation of drift-resistant technology known as TMR sticks.

While Scuf controllers may be pricier than premium offerings from Microsoft and Sony, such as the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and DualSense Edge, they are worth considering for those willing to invest. They represent some of the few genuine wireless options for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Scuf’s rear paddles and responsive hair-trigger features are among the best “pro” upgrades available. However, the previous absence of drift-resistant sticks has made them harder to recommend; for instance, in our Xbox controller buying guide, the Razer Wolverine Pro V3 surpassed the Scuf Instinct Pro that I once favored.

Better late than never, Scuf!
