Fans Roast The Switch 2 Box Art Disclaimer...

The Nintendo Switch 2 has sparked endless debates online ever since its official reveal in April, with much of the buzz revolving around its pricing. Now, just days before the June 5 launch, a new topic has emerged: unappealing box art. According to some Nintendo fans, the box art for the Switch 2 is an eyesore — and not for the reasons one might expect.

On Wednesday, The Pokémon Company International announced that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be available on October 16, 2025, for both the Switch and Switch 2. Alongside this announcement, they unveiled the game’s box art, which was generally praised by Pokémon and Nintendo fans as amazing.

However, the excitement quickly turned to criticism regarding the Switch 2’s cover art, especially when compared to its predecessor. It reads, “Includes the Nintendo Switch game and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack,” along with a medium-sized QR code. “Upgrade pack also available separately.”

Most complaints centered around the idea that the clutter of the Switch 2 covers detracted from the art’s overall appeal, with some fans expressing discontent over the striking red background, believing it overshadowed the illustrations.

Another user, Jean-Luc, remarked, “The original Switch box art looks much better. I can adapt to the red bar on top, but the fine print at the bottom is just too much… They should have made that an extra sleeve or sticker for the shrink wrap.”

“Switch 2 cases are terrible,” lamented Dewrules235. “How did they think all that wasted red space would look good? They should’ve kept the full art design, swapped the logo, and made the plastic red.”

It’s understandable that Nintendo would focus on this messaging, even if it meant compromising the aesthetic appeal of the art. The Switch 2 will utilize three different game card types: those exclusive to the Switch 2, the notorious game key cards, and those that work across both the Switch and Switch 2. The popular X account Nintendeal compiled a post outlining the differences and codes associated with each card.

Given the confusion surrounding the game compatibility, key cards, and the various Switch 2 Editions floating in online discussions, this fine print may prove invaluable later on. For those already perplexed by the packaging of the Switch and Switch 2, this game disclaimer could be a crucial aid for a grandparent wanting to ensure
