The trailer for The Life of Chuck provides little insight into the specific plot but offers glimpses into Chuck’s life journey. We first see him as a child with a love for dancing, then as a teenager portrayed by Jacob Tremblay, and finally as an adult, played by Tom Hiddleston. Throughout these stages, voiceovers from characters like Albie Krantz, played by Mark Hamill, emphasize Chuck’s uniqueness and the beauty of the world. The film appears to be heartwarming and sweet, staying mostly true to the tone of King’s short story, although it does incorporate some elements of tragedy.
This marks Flanagan’s third film adaptation of Stephen King’s works, following Gerald’s Game and the acclaimed Doctor Sleep. There is also talk of a more ambitious adaptation of the Dark Tower series in the future. The cast includes not only Tremblay, Hiddleston, and Hamill, but also features performances by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Annalise Basso, Karen Gillan, Matthew Lillard, Kate Siegel, Nick Offerman, David Dastmalchian, among others.
The Life of Chuck will be released in selected city theaters on June 6, with a nationwide release scheduled for June 12.
