Anthropic is preparing to launch a new “voice mode” feature that could compete with OpenAI’s similar function in ChatGPT, as reported by Bloomberg. This AI voice assistant is expected to be included in its Claude AI chatbot and might begin its rollout “as soon as this month.”
As per Bloomberg, Anthropic aims to release three English-language voices named Airy, Mellow, and Buttery. This development is not entirely new, as Anthropic’s chief product officer, Mike Kreiger, mentioned it in a Financial Times interview last month. “We will do voice internally, too; it is a useful modality to have. We have prototypes,” Kreiger revealed during the interview.
App researcher M1Astra was the first to discover references to the voice mode in Anthropic’s iOS app, which was later confirmed by Bloomberg. The Verge contacted Anthropic for comments but had not received a response at the time of reporting.
