Apple Removes 'Available Now' from Intelligence Page

Apple is set to unveil a new app dedicated to video gaming for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV at its Worldwide Developer Conference next week, as reported by Bloomberg. This app will provide a central hub for launching installed games and tracking achievements and leaderboards.

According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to launch the gaming app concurrently with the next version of iOS this September. The new app is expected to replace Game Center, incorporating editorial content and providing access to games available on the App Store. A previous report from 9to5Mac described the app as functioning similarly to the Xbox app for iPhone.

For Mac users, the new app will allow them to access games that have been downloaded from outside the App Store, as stated by Bloomberg.

This announcement follows Apple’s recent acquisition of its first gaming studio. The company confirmed to Digital Trends that it has acquired RAC7, a small studio of two people known for developing Sneaky Sasquatch, one of the initial games released on Apple Arcade. RAC7 will operate independently and will not be merged into other teams within Apple, according to Digital Trends.
