Apple's Eco-Impact: Trimming its Carbon Footprint

Apple has reportedly made strides in creating a chip for smart glasses aimed at competing with the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, according to Bloomberg.

This new chip is said to be derived from the technology used in the Apple Watch, with specific modifications to accommodate the multiple cameras that the upcoming smart glasses may feature. Apple is targeting mass production of this chip by the end of 2026 or in early 2027, which suggests that the smart glasses could be launched around the same time.

Additionally, Apple is working on augmented reality glasses that mirror Meta’s ambitions in the space. Last year, Meta showcased its Orion glasses, which are not intended for public sale. The company anticipates that the second generation of these glasses will be the first available to consumers, potentially debuting in 2027.

Furthermore, Apple is also developing chips for camera-equipped Apple Watches and AirPods, aiming to have these ready around 2027. The company is concurrently advancing its M-series chips and dedicated AI server chips, according to the report.
