Mantic Games, the skilled tabletop creators behind Halo: Flashpoint, are gearing up for their next major endeavor: a board game inspired by the Assassin’s Creed series.
Titled Assassin’s Creed: Animus, this game is described by a Mantic representative to Polygon as a “true board game,” distinguishing it from skirmish or miniatures games that merely take place on a board. The gameplay centers on competition among two to four players, who strive to achieve their personal objectives while also impacting the challenges faced by their fellow assassins. So far, Mantic has announced memorable characters Altair, Ezio, Connor, and Eivor as playable options, with plans to incorporate even more from the expansive Assassin’s Creed universe.
Mantic CEO Ronnie Renton expressed his excitement about the partnership with Ubisoft for the Assassin’s Creed board game, stating, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Ubisoft to create the Assassin’s Creed board game. Fans can expect a deep respect for the franchise’s lore and history, engaging asymmetric characters, and challenging gameplay choices as players navigate their own goals while staying ahead of others.”
Crowdfunding for Assassin’s Creed: Animus is set to commence in late 2025, with a pre-campaign page currently available on Kickstarter that offers more insights about the game. Mantic is aware that tariffs imposed during Donald Trump’s presidency could potentially impact U.S. customers’ ability to support this project and has prepared contingency plans to ensure that U.S. fans can back it with confidence. Additional details will be provided as the launch date approaches.
