Blue Prince Enigma: Solving the Unseen Restroom Riddle

Blue Prince

Dogubomb’s rogue-like puzzle adventure game, Blue Prince, has quickly won over fans at Polygon, and it’s easy to see why. Like many, I find myself navigating the peculiar mansion of Herbert S. Sinclair, collecting keys, and trading coins.

I have a penchant for games where you explore a series of unusual rooms, and the idea of a weekend puzzle adventure in a luxurious Airbnb, echoing Blue Prince’s Mount Holly Estate, sounds like an ideal getaway.

Although Mount Holly, with its ever-changing rooms, may not be everyone’s perfect vacation spot, one aspect preoccupies my thoughts: the mansion’s single inconvenient lavatory amidst its 46 rooms.

Consider for a moment that on any exploratory “Day,” you might not even discover the Lavatory, as drafting it into the house isn’t rewarding, given it’s a dead end. This leaves a mansion with quarters for a sizable staff, and even workspaces, to function with just one bathroom—comparable to my own apartment.

While thinking about alternatives—like the pool or sauna—it’s evident they don’t serve the fundamental purpose of a bathroom, leaving the mansion reliant on a single Lavatory.

With these sanitary shortcomings in mind, I find myself contemplating how a grand house like Mount Holly operates with just one toilet. Perhaps the gardens are serving a less obvious purpose, given the freshly turned earth.

It’s not too late for Dogubomb to remedy this oversight. An elegant estate with multiple bedrooms deserves a Master Bathroom, with added utility beyond the Lavatory. An En Suite with drafting incentives or even an Outhouse on the grounds could offer additional facilities and game rewards.

Until such corrections are made, I’ll be left pondering the predicament of Simon, Blue Prince’s young protagonist, and how he manages his necessities amidst his quest in the sprawling mansion.
