Boox is expanding its Go Series with two new E Ink devices, marking the company’s first foray into stylus support and note-taking features for its seven-inch e-reader models. While Kobo already provides this functionality on its seven-inch Libra Colour, the new Boox Go 7 and Go Color 7 Gen II run on Android 13, allowing access to both Amazon and Kobo’s bookstores, as well as the ability to install your preferred note-taking apps from the Google Play store.
The Boox Go 7 features a black-and-white E Ink Carta 1300 display with a resolution of 300ppi and adjustable screen lighting. It boasts an ergonomic asymmetrical design with a comfortable grip on one side and dedicated page turn buttons. With 64GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, there’s ample space for storing ebooks and audiobooks, which can be enjoyed through the built-in speaker or via Bluetooth headphones.
Designed to be water-resistant, the Go 7 can withstand splashes, spills, and light rain, but it’s important to note that it is not fully waterproof, so submerging it could result in damage.
The specifications for the Go Color 7 Gen II are very similar, except that it features an E Ink Kaleido 3 display, akin to the Kindle Colorsoft, capable of showcasing up to 4,096 colors at 150ppi, or black-and-white text and images at 300ppi.
Both e-readers are compatible with Boox’s pressure-sensitive InkSense stylus for note-taking and annotating text in supported reading apps. This stylus is sold separately and will add $45.99 to the price of either device.
