Starting in 2027, Disney Plus will take over as the new home for CoComelon outside of YouTube, as reported by Bloomberg. The platform will welcome all eight seasons of the immensely popular children’s series, which has been available on Netflix since 2020.
CoComelon, known for its simple, plotless, CG-animated segments set to catchy nursery rhymes, remains a powerhouse in children’s entertainment, boasting 601 million views on Netflix in 2023. Bloomberg noted that it was the second most-streamed show on the platform last year.
Despite its massive reach, CoComelon experienced a decline in views, dropping by nearly 60% over the past couple of years, and fell from being the fifth most-watched show in 2023 to outside the top 10 last year. Nevertheless, Disney is likely to benefit from this acquisition, reportedly agreeing to pay “tens of millions” annually for the series. Notably, 2027 will also see the release of the first CoComelon movie in theaters.
