Elden Ring Nightreign is designed primarily for three-player teams, although solo play is an option (its enjoyment level when played alone is yet to be determined). Notably, there won’t be support for duo play at launch next week. However, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign, Junya Ishizaki, mentioned to IGN that FromSoftware is contemplating the inclusion of two-player support after the game is released.
Ishizaki acknowledged that the two-player option was “overlooked during development” and expressed his apologies to players who may not be able to form a trio.
“Our aim was to create a multiplayer co-op experience designed for three players, which was the central focus of Nightreign,” Ishizaki explained. “As a player myself, I completely understand the desire to play solo at times, and we did make significant efforts to ensure a playable experience for single players based on our established rules and systems. However, in focusing on that aspect, we unintentionally overlooked the duo component. This is something we’re actively considering for future support.”
FromSoftware frequently adjusts the difficulty of their games through post-launch updates, so it’s likely that scaling for two- and three-player teams will be implemented over time. If you’re eager to team up with a friend or partner without needing a third member in your group, stay tuned for updates.
