Pokémon Go features its own rendition of the infamous Team Rocket, known as Team Go Rocket. In this Pokémon Go guide, we’ll detail how to locate leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo and how to take them down.

Below is a rundown of their teams and strategies as of May 2025, incorporating the latest adjustments that occurred during the Team Go Rocket Takeover event, which coincided with the “Fashion Week: Taken Over” event in January.

Locating Leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo in Pokémon Go

To find Team Go Rocket leaders, look for black PokéStops or hot air balloons floating above with a Rocket Radar equipped.

You can obtain a Rocket Radar by collecting six Mysterious Components, with each regular Go Team Rocket encounter rewarding you with one Mysterious Component.

Once you have the Rocket Radar, a leader will appear at random. The available leaders are Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff.

Certain Timed Research and Team Go Rocket Special Research tasks require you to defeat all three leaders. Successfully completing the Team Go Rocket Special Research will reward you with a Super Rocket Radar, enabling you to track down the boss, Giovanni. Defeating Giovanni grants you a Legendary Shadow Pokémon.
