Star Wars is making its return to Fortnite with the launch of the Galactic Battle, a new Battle Royale season beginning on May 2nd. This season introduces Darth Jar Jar and the new in-game ability, Force Lightning. The announcement was made during the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan, following much anticipation.
For those unfamiliar, Darth Jar Jar is a humorous fan theory suggesting that Jar Jar Binks was secretly a Force user and potentially the true antagonist of the Star Wars prequels.
Ahmed Best, who has voiced Jar Jar Binks since Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, revealed at the event that he spontaneously created some lines for the Darth Jar Jar character. One of the lines he shared was, "I am the phantom menace," which he noted was something he’d wanted to say for over two decades.
The Galactic Battle will offer players the chance to pilot X-Wings and TIE Fighters, explore themed maps, and purchase new Item Shop offerings, including character Mace Windu. Additionally, players can spend their Fortnite V-Bucks on a Star Wars-themed Battle Pass, featuring characters like Emperor Palpatine and the Wookiee Cuddle Team Leader. The season will span five weeks, culminating in a live narrative event. According to StarWars.com, the schedule is as follows:
