Netflix is set to remove its last two interactive titles: Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, as reported by What’s on Netflix. These specials will no longer be available after May 12, 2025, so if you haven’t seen them yet, you’ll want to watch them soon.
Bandersnatch may not have been Netflix’s inaugural interactive special, but it certainly became the platform’s most well-known. Featuring a dark, choose-your-own-adventure format, it sparked an online frenzy among Reddit users eager to uncover all the possible choices within the film (even if it wasn’t compatible with every device).
The upcoming removals align with Netflix’s decision last year to eliminate all but four of its interactive specials from its roster. “The technology fulfilled its purpose, but is now restrictive as we shift our focus to innovation in other areas,” Netflix spokesperson Chrissy Kelleher stated prior to the removals.
The remaining interactive titles include Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls and You vs. Wild. According to What’s on Netflix, they were also removed in January of this year, although non-interactive versions of these shows are still available for viewing.
A Netflix spokesperson, Jessica Braslow, declined to provide further comments.
