Tile trackers are now being seamlessly integrated into the Life360 app. In a recent blog post, Life360 announced that users can now manage these convenient Bluetooth location trackers without needing the Tile app.

Life360, a mobile app focused on family safety and location services, acquired Tile’s Bluetooth tracking division for $205 million in 2022. Since that acquisition, Tile trackers have been integrated into the Life360 app, allowing users to monitor the locations of both loved ones and belongings from a single platform. Initially, setup required the Tile app, but this update enables users to take full advantage of Tile features directly within Life360—such as automatic notifications when an item is left behind and access to location history for tracked items.

As part of this update, Life360 is also restructuring its paid subscription plans. The new $7.99/month Silver membership now includes the SOS Alerts feature, allowing users to call 911 with a triple-tap on a compatible Tile, along with seven days of location history. Previously, SOS Alerts were exclusive to the $14.99/month Gold plan, which offers 30 days of location history. While Life360 can be used for free to track people and items, this option only provides two days of location history.

Designed mainly for families, Life360 functions similarly to Apple’s Find My app, enabling authorized “Circle” members to view each other’s real-time locations. Users have control over their location sharing settings, determining who can see their precise location at any time. The app facilitates notifications for Circle members upon arrival or departure from specific locations, and alerts when flights land, eliminating the need for constant communication such as “text me when you arrive.”

Beyond location tracking, Life360 positions itself as a comprehensive family safety app, incorporating features like crash detection and roadside assistance. Its paid plans also provide driving reports, which track phone usage, maximum speeds, and instances of hard braking. Families with teens considering this service should carefully evaluate how this data is shared before committing to a subscription.
