Microsoft has begun a gradual rollout of Recall, a new feature that captures screenshots of your activities on a Copilot Plus PC for future reference, to Windows Insiders. This was announced in a blog post on Thursday.
The rollout suggests that Microsoft may soon launch Recall on a broader scale. Initially, Microsoft aimed to release Recall alongside Copilot Plus PCs last June, but it was delayed due to security concerns. A subsequent launch planned for October was also postponed, as the company worked to provide “a secure and trusted experience.”
In November, a preview of Recall was made available to Windows Insiders using Qualcomm Copilot Plus PCs, and shortly afterward, to those with Intel and AMD Copilot Plus PCs. After a few weeks of testing, my colleague Tom Warren described Recall as “creepy, clever, and compelling.”
The blog post from Thursday explains that users need to opt in to use Recall for saving snapshots, and they have the option to pause this feature “at any time.”
