Popular voice actor Yuri Lowenthal recently made headlines on his Bluesky account by revealing that he will not be reprising his role as Yosuke in the upcoming Persona 4 remake — a project that had been speculated but not confirmed until Lowenthal’s announcement.
In his post, he stated, “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.” While his comment starts with “And,” it seems to come out of the blue — likely a surprise to Atlus’ PR team as well.
Rumors about a Persona 4 remake had been circulating for some time, especially following the release of Persona 3 Reload in 2024. Given this context, the idea of another remake in the series seemed plausible. Additionally, since Persona 3 Reload incorporated recast voice actors for its main characters, it’s reasonable to expect a similar approach for Persona 4.
Polygon has contacted Atlus and Lowenthal for further comments and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
