How to Cure Vampirism in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered

If you’ve been struck by a vampire in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, you may find yourself infected with Porphyric Hemophilia, a disease that drains your fatigue and could eventually turn you into a vampire. Fortunately, there are two ways to cure vampirism, but one option, a lengthy quest, is likely to be less appealing than the quicker alternative.

Understanding the Vampirism Process

Once infected, you have three in-game days (72 hours) to cure the disease; otherwise, you will fully transform into a vampire after your next rest. While being a vampire comes with bonuses—such as enhanced resistances, skills, and abilities—it severely limits your activities since you cannot venture outside during the day.

If the lifestyle of a vampire doesn’t suit you, follow these steps to cure vampirism in Oblivion Remastered.

Methods to Cure Vampirism

Before starting your cure, ensure that you are indeed a vampire. Go to your “Character” tab and select “Show Active Effects” or check the “Magic” tab to see any vampire-related effects listed. If you have contracted Porphyric Hemophilia but haven’t transformed yet, you may still have time to prevent the change.

If you choose to cure your vampirism, remember that cured vampires cannot become vampires again without mods or console commands. You can remove vampirism through these two main methods:

  1. Complete the “Vampire Cure” quest
  2. Visit the Font of Renewal

We recommend bypassing the “Vampire Cure” quest in favor of the Font of Renewal, as the quest can be long and tedious, whereas finding the Font is significantly easier and faster.

Finding the Font of Renewal

The Font of Renewal is located at Deepscorn Hollow, situated in the southeastern corner of the map. If you lack nearby map markers, fast travel to a location in Leyawiin and make your way to the island.

Upon arrival, you’ll trigger the “Deepscorn Hollow” quest. Setting this quest as your active quest will guide you to submerged ruins on the island’s southern coast, where you’ll discover a hidden underwater entrance.

As you explore the ruins, look for a large log sticking out of the ground. Behind the log, you will find a submerged door; however, be ready to swim back up for air once you enter.

Inside, take the west door leading to the Deepscorn Cloister. Descend the stairs to find the Font of Renewal, a stone pillar over a pool of water. If you interact with it now, it will prompt you to obtain purgeblood salts.

Look for a Purgeblood Crystal Formation in one of the room’s corners to harvest the necessary purgeblood salt. After acquiring the salt, return to the Font of Renewal and interact with it to cure your vampirism.

Follow these steps closely, and you’ll successfully rid yourself of vampirism in Oblivion Remastered!
