Spotify is introducing new podcast-centric features in its mobile app, designed to improve how you track your favorite podcasts and discover new ones.
For those who primarily use Spotify for podcasts, the upcoming Following feed may be a refreshing update. According to a blog post from the company, finding the most recent episodes from your followed podcasts has been challenging, leading to the creation of the Following feed. This new feature offers “a dedicated space to catch all the latest releases from the podcasts you follow—conveniently compiled in one accessible feed within your main Podcast section on Home.”
Additionally, Spotify is integrating podcast recommendations directly into your Home feed. “Right beneath your shortcuts, you’ll begin to see suggestions for podcasts and video podcasts that are ready for you to play or save, enhancing the exploration of new shows and episodes,” Spotify explains. There may also be a “quick note” accompanying some recommendations to clarify why certain podcasts were suggested, making adventurous picks more approachable.
The app is also set to roll out features aimed at creators. They will have the option to link to the content discussed in their shows that is available on Spotify through a new “In this episode” section on episode pages. This feature is expected to be launched in the coming weeks, along with enhancements like threaded replies and emoji reactions for comments.
