Threads is introducing a transparency feature that enables users to view how their accounts are penalized for violating the platform’s rules. Additionally, video advertisements are making their first appearance on the platform.
The new account status dashboard resembles similar features found on Instagram and Facebook, displaying instances of content removal or reduced visibility in feeds. It also indicates posts that cannot be recommended due to violations of Threads community guidelines and informs users if they’ve been restricted from certain platform features. Users who believe they have been unfairly penalized can use the dashboard to appeal the decisions.
This feature aims to provide users with greater clarity regarding any actions taken against their accounts, assist in avoiding future penalties, and help in reinstating content or features that may have been wrongly restricted. The account dashboard is currently rolling out and can be found in the “account” section of the settings menu for Threads users.
Meta’s advertising efforts will also extend to Facebook and Instagram. A trial for a new “short-form video solution” will feature ads alongside popular Reels to capitalize on user engagement, and new branded partnership ad formats will be introduced on both platforms, including during Facebook Live events.
