Fans of Monster Hunter Wilds have been curious about what a new weapon type might look like, and Capcom appears to have an exciting response: deez hands. On Thursday, Capcom announced that the game will feature a free Akuma layered armor set, complete with his signature moves, as part of a collaboration with Street Fighter 6 launching on May 28.
The crossover trailer showcases Akuma battling Ajarakan and Congalala, unleashing a Gou Hadoken on a Rathian, expertly dodging with Ashura Senku, and executing intense combos, including his famous Raging Demon finisher. For those who prefer traditional weaponry, don’t worry—Akuma can also wield weapons against the massive creatures of MHW. Additionally, players will receive a delightful Blanka-chan layered armor set for their Palico companions.
To obtain these complimentary add-ons, players must complete a new side mission titled “Ultimate Strength.” This quest will be available only to hunters at Hunter Rank 21 or above, so make sure to level up before the event begins.
To initiate the quest, speak to the Vespae Unit Handler, Quinn, at the Oilwell Basin Base Camp. Other arena quests like “Demonic Strength” and “True Strength” will also be on offer, allowing players to earn even more free content. If you can’t access the special mission right away, don’t worry—Capcom assures that “after its addition as a free update, this collaboration will be a permanent feature in the game.”
Additionally, Capcom is releasing a special paid DLC cosmetic pack that includes emotes and outfits for Alma, allowing her to dress up like Cammy and Chun-Li. Various Street Fighter 6 backgrounds, gestures, stickers, and pendants will also be available for purchase.
Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
