Unveiling the Xbox Handheld: A Glimpse into...

Recent images were obtained by Videocardz and the Indonesian site 91mobiles through an Indonesian certification filing, which is connected to a listing with the U.S. FCC. The images showcase two new ROG Ally consoles: a standard white model and a black version featuring a button with an identifiable unpainted Xbox logo.

This device is thought to be Project Keenan, an Xbox handheld that has been rumored for several months and is anticipated to launch this year. However, it’s not the primary Xbox handheld console that fans have been expecting. Instead, it’s a Windows gaming device produced by a third-party manufacturer—likely Asus—that carries Xbox branding and is expected to come with the Xbox PC app preinstalled, simplifying access to features like PC Game Pass and the Xbox Play Anywhere cross-platform library.

According to Windows Central, there is also a first-party handheld Xbox in development that will support Xbox console games, but its release is not expected until at least 2027.

Beyond what the photos reveal, which is minimal—suggesting the FCC could benefit from better lighting and smoother screens—the listings indicate that the black, Xbox-branded ROG Ally 2 model is likely to have superior specifications compared to the standard version. It appears to feature an eight-core Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, in contrast to the white model’s four-core AMD Aerith Plus.

Windows Central reports that Project Keenan is currently being tested quite openly at Microsoft, with speculation suggesting the device could be unveiled as soon as May 20.
