Grand Theft Auto 6 marks the first new installment in the series in over a decade, generating immense anticipation. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, has achieved remarkable success, selling over 200 million copies since its release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. The sixth installment in Rockstar’s enduring 27-year franchise returns to Vice City, situated in the fictional state of Leonida, following the journey of dual protagonists Jason and Lucia as they strive for a better future.
The new trailer offers a glimpse into their lives, starting with Jason picking up Lucia from prison. The sequence of shots leaves it uncertain whether their criminal escapades occurred before Lucia’s incarceration or if she dove back into the criminal underworld immediately upon her release. Given that it’s a GTA title, we can safely assume that crime will play a central role.
Set in contemporary times, GTA 6 moves away from the stylized ’80s rendition of Vice City showcased in earlier titles. Nevertheless, the trailer does include some nostalgic ’80s music.
